Wooden Boat Show

Celebrate North Carolina’s tradition of boatbuilding during the annual Wooden Boat Show. This family-friendly gathering features dozens of handcrafted boats on display, engaging nautical demonstrations, and activities for children. It's the oldest wooden boat show in North Carolina.

KWLA Big Rock Tournament

The Keli Wagner Lady Angler (KWLA) Tournament, one of the world's largest ladies-only fishing events. The one-day billfish release tournament celebrates angling prowess while raising money for cancer, continuing the legacy of its namesake.

NC Maritime Friends Maritime Day

Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament
June 7 - 15, 2025
In 2024, The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament drew a record 302 boats —each angling for the chance to win a piece of the $7.56 million purse. This nine-day event includes fun-filled activities, eight days of fishing, and a closing awards ceremony. Congratulations to Game Time for winning the tournament. Their 516-pound blue marlin brought to the scales on Monday was worth $1.8 million in prize money.

Beaufort Old Homes Tour

This annual tour features some of Beaufort’s beautiful private homes, glorious gardens, multiple local churches and artists’ studios throughout the town, as well as the authentically-restored buildings and grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site. This is a one-of-a-kind event.

John Costlow Christmas Train Show takes place at the North Carolina Maritime Museum, in partnership with the Beaufort Lions Club. The train show features antique working model trains of all sizes. The train layouts will range from simple circles to more elaborate systems.

For history enthusiasts, Fort Macon State Park hosts a unique New Year’s Eve Cannon Blast. Celebrate the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 with a blast. Fort Macon will once again be firing eight cannons! What a great way to bring in the new year!

There will be live entertainment starting at 6 pm, and the cannons will go off at 7:00 sharp. (If you show up at 6:45 you won't get in due to the road being closed for safety reasons).
Feel free to bring a folding chair and picnic meal, like the summer concerts. No alcohol. Come early and carpool. Parking is limited.
Folks are invited back the next day for the annual First Day Hike as rangers guide visitors through the maritime forest, the beach and salt marshes on a beautiful three-mile hike.

Each time slot will offer two hike options. A short nature hike on the Yarrow’s Loop trail and inlet beach covering about ¾ of a mile, or a long 3.2-mile hike around the Elliott Caues Trail.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes, bring a water bottle, and probably bug spray.
